Can I obtain the brightness of a coordinate point on the picture using the REQUEST command?

May I ask how to use REQUEST {2}?

Can I obtain the brightness of a coordinate point on the picture using the REQUEST {2} command?

The brightness or red, green, and blue values of the coordinate points on the picture.

GDL seems to have relatively weak processing power for pictures.

You can request the RGB of a pen or material (surface) as these are a single colour, but not of a picture.

Every pixel of a picture could be a different colour.

Archicad just imports the picture you tell it to, and as far as I know there is no way to interrogate the colour of individual pixels.

Okay, there's still a little disappointment

When you say 'Picture' I assume you are meaning an image file (.jpg, .tif, .png, etc).

I assume this has got to do with using gradients to control dynamic objects?

You can try to convert the bitmap file to a .txt file that a GDL object can read.

But that means a lot of work.
