*.GDL script file - how to create?

I'm using an ArchiCAD template written by someone else, and it makes clever use of *.gdl script files. In this case at least, they are just code snippets that open in a single-window viewer/editor. No parameters, etc. Just GDL code as a block of unstyIed text. I can open them and see how they fit into the system, but I can't figure out how to create one. Do these come out of the gdl object editor?

They seem to be just text files.

I am not sure if you can just use a text editor and save them with a 'GDL file extension.

I don't know how to create them from within Archicad.

If you can't create them in a text editor, then just open any .GDL file in Archicad and 'Save As' with a new name and edit as you want.
