Import data

I would like to import external data into Archicad therefore operate with them using imported data/parameters ...
I believe it could be possible with XML. But exactly how ? couldn't find example...

I imagine it to work like this:
API has an external XML where are stored some of API parameters, so they are editable outside of archicad. Is it possible?

If i'm not wrong GDL objects could save data at txt. But how could API do it similar as GDL objects ?
