Hello,
I'm trying to get the width of a string so that I can put a background behind the text, but the string is made up of a combination of autotext and standard text. The string width seems to calculate by using "<PROJECTNUMBER>" instead of what the project number actually is.
Is there any way to get around this or fix it?
Thanks

You cannot do any GDL Operations with Autotext except of TEXT2

This should be possible, probably not through autotext, but with parameters.
We have some door/window markers from our local reseller that offer the option of putting a fill behind text and that text is directly pulled from the door/window, like Element ID, width, etc

Have a look through the Requests. Can't many of the autotext values can be requested and hence and asigned to a parameter which can then be measured?
Ling.
Looking around, it would seem that project info is exempt from this...

If you're trying to make a simple title block to put on layouts, we just draw these on worksheets, save those as views and put the views on master layouts. Autotext works fine this way and you can just use the text tool.
