Dark Mode on Windows

Hi everyone,

Speaking for many Archicad users on Windows, I spend long hours staring at my screen, and a true system-wide Dark Mode is something my eyes need.

I know macOS users have enjoyed native Dark Mode support for quite a few versions now (and it's standard in Archicad 29). I recently saw on the official Graphisoft Product Roadmap that Dark Mode on Windows has finally been updated to In Progress.

When can we expect it? ‌ ‌🤔

Hopefully this would mean the next version (30), but there is no guarantee of this.

We are aiming for AC30 (later this year), Beta is just about to start so hopefully there is no critical issues our testers find in this area 🙂

I totally agree. I may not have purchased Archicad 29 if I had known that it didn't have this feature. I have a light sensitivity condition and working with a stark white background is really difficult. I don't know if there are visibility ADA requirements for people outside the US, but this is a disability issue. I would hope the Graphisoft would adjust this in an update and not the next version. I don't like working with sunglasses on.

I'm on Mac and I used the dark Mode but it's not really working for me. I find that the toolbars icons, etc don't have enough contrast for me. Anyway, that's not helping you.

But have you tried to at least change modeling space background, as a workaround? View/Grid & Editing Plane Options/Grids&Background... and you can change the background color to any color you prefer.

My 2 cents

Annoying thing about changing the background, is that that is file specific rather than part of your WE... I have had a couple of files I have recieved that are drafting table green.

And what is wrong with that? 😉

That's my default.

I like the nostalgia value.

But maybe I want Autocad Black instead of Drafting Table Green. Slight tangent, but this really should be part of the WE rather than the file...
