Revit categories as archicad layers

Ahmed_K

Hi,

Did someone explored if it's a good idea to create a structure of layers identical to the revit categories list ?

Does this help in coordination and or interoperability mapping ??

I'm planning to update my template layers for an easier coordination with revit structure and flawless visibility management

The concept in Archicad that most closely corresponds to Revit Categories is Classifications, not Layers. When exchanging data between the two programs through IFC, Archicad Classifications are converted to IFC Types, then IFC Types are converted to Revit Categories, and vice versa.

Do you want to match Archicad Layers with Revit Categories for Ac Export->Revit Import, Revit Export->Ac Import, or both?

I just have finished a beta version of a python script that helps changing element classifications in archicad based on rules. At the moment, the rules are only layers/element type.

The script is in french, I plan to share it here once translated in english as soon as possible.

The idea is to give revit user the same logic of hiding elements as an archicad user on a shared project, so all the team talks the same language ,

element on layer " structural wall " in archicad is in "structural wall " revit category, archicad classification can't help in this case ,
