Keynote not expanding for additional text

We don't typically use keynotes, but if we did....I could imagine a case where we would want to add additional text to it, to clarify or specify something. I would hope that the Keynote frame would expand to include this text, but it doesn't seem to (see attached).

I am a little confused how to tell the difference between a keynote and a regular note. Once I click it I can see the keynote "autotext" in red, but otherwise they read very much like notes. Should it be its own tool?

Does a Graphic Override help?
