Life Cycle Assessment

You can make informed decisions by understanding the lifecycle environmental affects of your projects and design better, more sustainable buildings.

Planned updates to third-party solutions include new features:

  • The One Click LCA - Archicad add-on will support MacOS. Works in conjunction with the Design Options palette.

  • Solutions, such as German LCA and Anavitor LCA (by Nordic BIM Group)will provide local/regional coverage for LCA needs.

  • Design LCA 5.0 (add-on by Formfaktor, our Danish partner) will be enhanced with material database connections.

Please, share your insights and questions in this topic and discuss how do you deal with Life Cycle Assessment in your local area.

Illes,

Thanks for starting this topic.

We have been using OneClickLCA for a couple of years, but the need for going through Excel has been annoying and has resulted in the decision to drop that solution and instead opting for Anavitor LCA (well, starting in a month or so). We will probably try to use a combination of DesignLCA and Anavitor - depending on the need and how we find the solutions play nice with each other.

Will update when I know more...

Update:
We had our onboarding with Anavitor last week and it does look promising.

It's a simple add-on which gives you the ability to upload Model Data to Anavitor (web based) and then also update you Archicad Model Data with Anavitor Properties. This adds information to specific element properties wich can be used to calculate LCA. There is the option of using generic values or to link to specific EPD:s if you know what product is being used.

We will do a test-run on one of our current projects to see what we can get and what other functionality we need...but the quick verdict is that it should work very well with any Archicad model - without the need for any manual Excel-handling.
