ArchiCAD Dead.

Dwight

After weeks of flawless operation, ArchiCAD 9. + Plotmaker [mac] will not put up a window for me, or a splash screen, or appear on screen but will appear in application running list and can be quit:

1: Uninstalled/Reinstalled.
2: WIBU Reinstall
3:Though recent video/torrent activity might have damaged Quicktime - reinstalled quicktime.
4: tried both USB keys - all seems okay.

Any ideas? I am distraught.

Help!!!!!

maybe it's got sick of your jokes?

but seriously . . .
have you installed any software recently that might have conflicted with it?

any software/security updates? my logic board is partially fried at the moment - happened when i restarted after the recent security update. AU$1000 down the pan when i get back to civilisation.

do any of the keyboard shortcuts work? eg Cmd 3 or Cmd 2 to bring up the windows?

does it happen when you launch the application on its own, when you double click a file to open it, or both?

stumped

Did you ditch your prefs as well? If you didn't I would try it. I just downloaded and installed BitTorrent, ArchiCAD seems to be unaffected.

Are they special codecs that you have installed?

Cheers.

I did, and the diisinstaller should look after it.... nothing else is affected...

dang. double dang.

I will cry myself to sleep now. Now was a bad time for this to happen. All because I wanted to see Shaun of the Dead.

Better than last weekend when the pipe burst in the basement.

Water pipes in the basement are not a good thing

Did you try uninstalling the codes or program/s you installed, before ArchiCAD stoped working?

But I must say that it seems strange that another program could have such an effect on ArchiCAD.

Cheers.

call me old fashioned, but what's wrong with the local video store?

btw - the co-writer and director of shaun... was a guy i went to school with. his first 'film' was called 'a fistful of dollars'. he had us running around the local countryside playing cowboys in the wild west of somerset . . .

cheers

Hi Dwight,

Have you recently installed or upgrade any virus / spam / firewall software? I recently reinstalled and then upgraded Norton Internet Security and had a whack of problems with my whole system. After the upgrade and a few tweaks I was able to get things seemingly back to normal....

(I think the biggest culprit was Microsoft's Security Centre trying to wrestle control away from Norton....)
