ArchiCAD Only Allows Saving to Desktop – Unable to Save Projects to Other Folders

Hello! I've been using ArchiCAD for about two years now, but I’ve consistently had an issue with saving and reopening projects in specific folders on my computer. ArchiCAD only allows me to save projects on the Desktop. When I try to save in other locations (such as Documents, Images, Videos, or Music), it won’t allow me to do so.

I recently upgraded to ArchiCAD 28, and the issue persists. Previously, with ArchiCAD 26, I could occasionally save files in other folders, but when I tried to open these files later (if they were saved outside the Desktop), I would get an error. I attached an image of the error that appears to me now with Archicad 28

Has anyone else run into similar issues? Is there a setting or workaround to let me save and open files from folders other than Desktop? I'd really like to keep my files organized without cluttering my Desktop.

Thank you in advance!

Operating system used: Windows 11 23H2

Is this issue only with PLN files? Can you save other file types in folders of your choice?

Try turning off your virus scanner (or add Archicad.exe to the exception list).

BIMquants.comBETA - Quantities and Costs Estimation in Archicad - BETA testers needed.

With .dwg also did not allow me to save on Documents folder...

Just tried to add it as an exception and it did not work...

If the system doesn't allow the saving of any file type, then it could be a Group Policy in the OS that is restricting you.

Note: Group Policy is only valid for Windows Pro versions, so if you have Win 11 Home, then it's going to be something else, like folder permissions.
