Even for basic 2d work. Am using a Windows 7 (64 bit) Toshiba laptop, first generation I7 (1.6 ghz), NVIDIA GeForce 310M (512 mb) video card with only 4 gb memory. Works fine for AC 15 and AC16, but crawls to a near stop with the same file in AC17. I think the maximum memory for my machine is 8 gb. Any hope for better performance with a memory upgrade or would that just be putting lipstick on a pig?
I thought the slow issues were gone, but it seems it is back again. Seems to get really jerky and slow when editing single plane roofs. 3d or plan, doesn't seem to matter. Watching the CPU activity monitor it spikes to 100% or more.
We have the same problem as listed here, AC 17 will just hang 2 to 10 seconds very often.
We do have many instances of ArchiCAD open usually as part of our workflow.
Is there any fix for this yet?
ArchiCAD 25 & 24 USA Windows 10 x64 Since ArchiCAD 9
Definite speed increase in plan editing when you check the 'Use legacy intersection methods for model elements' check box.
I was editing walls and it was taking almost 3 seconds for each edit to take place before I could start on another. I will see how long it last.
Experiencing similar issues as mentioned below. Files open fine, but slow down dramatically after 5+ minutes of work. Has GS offered any solutions or reasons for the problems?
I'm no expert but it sounds like a redraw issue of sorts...
If you click on the same elements when selecting a bunch i.e. wall..wall..wall...wall or window...window....window..window is it faster than clicking window, wall, door, window, wall, roof, slab etc...?
The info boxes refresh with the information of the elements clicked every time you select something. Was there always this problem? Seems like some sort of problem the communication between the cpu and gpu or the code that lets them communicate? Obviously something in the code has changed from when this didn't happen in previous versions, until now... possibly with the implementation of multi-core support? 64bit etc etc.
Think it's always been clunky only now more extreme and under the pump for a deadline tomorrow...
Switched off info box (assuming switching it off will stop the refresh) - No effect.
Switched off GDL anti-aliasing - no effect
Not sure about the multi thread thing - beyond my knowledge base but would have thought I'd have allot more company with this issue if that had been the case.
Potential issue might be the graphics card - will try file on older machine with different card.
Have called it in to Archicad tech support and will update outcome on this thread.
We tested this slowness once. The last fast archicads for navigation/selection in 3d were 13/14. 13 was blazing fast, even loading files is fast. Since then it looks like it's been getting slower and slower from the reports.
Try turning off your contours in 3d window settings, it may help a little.
I am not sure if this a fix for speed issues but I seem to recall reading somewhere that if you are using a WIBU key then you should remove the Codemeter drivers (that are installed automatically).
Although I have both installed and have not noticed any slowness myself.
