Archicad 28 is constantly freezing or crashing, diving a Direct3D / graphics card error.
Archicad 27 and Archicad 26 do not have the same problem.
I've updated graphics drivers, and uninstalled / reinstalled Archicad to no avail.
I get the same error every time; sometimes, it's within seconds of opening the program. Other times, it can take several minutes. But it happens multiple times a day.
'Direct3D Runtime received a Device Removed Message DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG'
That's typically an issue with either the graphics card itself or the graphics card's connection the rest of the machine. However, this is the *only* program experiencing the problem, which is usually indicative of a glitch in the program or an incompatibility between the program and the graphics drivers.
These are two of the smallest projects I've ever done in Archicad, and the only two on 28 so far. Archicad 28 appears to be sending conflicting instructions to the GPU, which causes it to hang. No other programs are effected when it happens; in some instances, when it happens in one Archicad 28 file, it doesn't even impact the *other* Archicad 28 file I've got open.

I haven't looked at TdrDdiDelay before, but the answer regarding the other two is correct as far as I know is it not...? It does match the Microsoft documentation... And for a general user, modifying anything in the registry is not recommended. Rather than a "fix", the registry edits would be more a troubleshooting step to see where in the pipeline the issue is occurring. Kevin's post should probably have the registry edits at the end with a disclaimer.

ai nonsense.
IMHO disrespecting the valuable time of other forum members.
Even worse, it is coming from a mod.
Could you elaborate? What about the info is not valid?
Also, speak for yourself and stop generalizing like what you think is everybody's opinion ("disrespecting the time of others").

May I suggest the topic of AI use and etiquette be debated elsewhere. Thanks.

This is still an issue for us on Archicad 28 and 29 GER, Windows 11, NVIDIA desktop graphics cards. Occurs with design options but sometimes also without them when Archicad is running in background. It's always Archicad that crashes.
What helped reduce the issue was setting 2D-Navigation to "simple model" so fills are not being shown when navigating:

Hi,
I don't know if this helps, but if you disable the attenuation option in the options palette, the problem no longer occurs; can you confirm this on your end?

Hello everyone,
After months of trying to solve this issue and with the help of several technicians, the solution that has finally worked for me is the following:
1. Open Settings.
2. Go to System > Display.
3. Scroll down and select Graphics.
4. Under Add an app, choose Desktop app.
5. Click Browse and select Archicad.exe.
6. Click Options.
7. Select High performance (to force Archicad to use the dedicated GPU).
8. Click Save.
This forces Archicad to use the dedicated high-performance GPU instead of automatically switching between the integrated and dedicated graphics cards, which may help prevent GPU-related crashes or "Device Removed" errors.

@abdelaziz and @Dani11: both doesn't help to completely solve the problem.

As @Rollmops said - it does not.
There are times when, if connected to an external screen and moving from say your desk to a meeting room (or the other way around) - where the graphics will bug out. These times is when AC29 bugs out for me...
...yes, isolated situations - but not anything uncommon for a normal workday.

// I've just read further back, and on page 7 someone already pointed out this fix.
We've experienced the same issue with our project this week. The suspicious thing that was it started occuring in teamwork in every members computer, despite the fact that each machine was running different hardware and the Direct3D crashes only occured with one module file. The issue only came up when I was panning on floor plan, and started zooming in and out and the crash instantly came up. I've tracked down the issue by isolating layers category by category in the project, and after many crashes I've managed to find only one layer, wich always instantly crashed, and that layer was using Design option made walls on a 4 storey building.
Then after fiddling around in the design options palette (window/palettes/design options), i've found the fix for the problem by turning off the "fade nearby environment" in the said palettte. I've managed to do the same aswell on other company computers and the issue went away.
I've tried GPU driver clean reinstalls, directx update, windows update, Archicad update, but those didn't help at all. Now we are using Archicad 29 (3200) on WIndows 11 25H2.
Hope this helps.
