I just read on IDC’s website (a Swiss Mac distributor) that BIMcloud Basic, the non-subscription version, will no longer be developed for macOS in the future.
At the moment, it still runs via Rosetta / Intel code, which means that at some point it will no longer be able to run on future versions of macOS. Apparently, there are currently no plans to port it to Apple Silicon.
So what does this mean for the future of Archicad on the Mac? Especially now that Apple is finally offering genuine professional computers again.
Please note: BIMcloud 2027 will be the last version to support macOS. Starting with BIMcloud 2028, there will no longer be a Mac version of BIMcloud.

I understand Graphisoft's decision from a "business" standpoint, but today's email that they'll no longer support BIMcloud Basic (i.e. "on premises BIMcloud") on MacOS is one more layer of disappointment for small practitioners using the software. This is partially "not their fault" (i.e. it's forced b/c Apple is no longer continuing Rosetta2 on MacOS past 27 Golden Gate), but I have to imagine that not every small/mid sized office wants their Teamwork projects on the cloud, esp if they already have some sort of IT staff/architectural staff trained in IT. Since the software is currently pretty great, it would have been nice to update it to run native on Apple Silicon, and since it hasn't changed much in years (decades?) it didn't seem like "too much to ask". You'd think with everyone screaming about how AI is going to kill everyone, it would be a pretty easy way to keep the latest "Killer Claude" agent busy for a few seconds, so it has to stop working on Skynet for just a little while.
I guess I should just be thankful that Graphisoft hasn't killed BimCloud Basic altogether, and just set up my Windows server, eat my gruel, and not complain 🫤

I have just seen this item on the Product Roadmap. It is called BIMcloud Hybrid:

I just created a thread to see if we can get more clarification on what this is.

Sorry Laszlo, but you’re missing the point here. Hybrid is a possible future product. This is an urgent matter. What are Mac users going to do next year when Archicad 31 is released. Are they going to not upgrade? They are paying for a yearly upgrade plan that gets more expensive each year. The expectation that Graphisoft has on these companies is absurd. Expecting them to buy expensive Windows servers and at the same time increasing their licensing plans that they have payed 3 years in advance. This decision is totally unreasonable and not thought through and must be reversed. If you have a solution for these affected companies please let us know?
