Code Meter Error Code 501

When I try to start AC18 with the code meter key in a USB slot I am getting an error 501. It then asks if I want to start in demo mode or quit.
It acts as if there is no code meter installed but prior to today I haven't had any issues. Any help??

I am trying to download the license for the code meter to see if that will solve the problem but I am getting an alert about the GSROOT.dll file. Can anyone tell me if this file is a risk?
