Fill Background issue in layout book.

Anonymous
Not applicable
I have set some fills and some backgrounds of objects to have the -1 Window background property.

The objects and fills work as normal in the project map and view maps - but when i am viewing my drawings in the layout book they appear with a black background - please see the attached image for reference.

I also have a legend on the right of my layout book which is setup in the master layout. In a given layout this appears "broken" as well - showing the wrong background colour - in this case black.

Im convinced we must have accidentally changed a setting - but as this is a teamwork file its hard to track down where we might have changed an option.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. As you can imagine trying to edit black text on a black background is not a great deal of fun.

For reference i am using:

Archicad 10 Aus (Full) 1188, Wind Xp pro (sp2).

push,

the objects you're using... have you programmed them or you just changed the parameters?
1. if you changed parameters only check if the fill is set to 'Empty Fill'...
this is a common mistake of GDL programmers when in some instances of GDL command like POLY_B (a fill) 'Solid Fill' option will draw over background with the cover fill pen (so therefore the cover pen has to be set to 0-transparent in this case).

2. if you programmed your object check the SET FILL and/or flags in POLY command.

Thanks rob.

The objects are a tree from the archicad 10 library. I have simply changed the properties of the object. I tried what you suggested and im sorry to report it produced no change.

The legend on the right of my layout book (appears as a black block in my image below - has the arrow pointing at it) is simply a fill. The fill is set to empty fill and the background is set to -1 window background.

I hope i have understood your suggestion correctly - i went through the objects - confirmed the fill was set too "empty fill", i changed the fill pen to transparent, and confirmed the fill background pen was set to -1 window background.

That done i had no luck . I must admit i have used this fill arrangement many times over and never had this problem. I have changed my grid background also to see if the background colour of my fill in my project map changes - and it did (matched the window background). Which leaves me thinking its a display propoerty than something to do with the fill or drawing itself - any thoughts?

push,

vaguely I remember there was a similar bug in early versions of AC10. Which version and built of AC are you using?could you make that as a part of your signature (similar to mine). It is easier for anybody to identify a problem you are facing to based on your info.

If you are using AC10 get it update with the latest patch... and this is important (and you should probably start with this), check if all of you has the same patch installed since you mentioned that it's a TW file.

Have updated my signature.

I had posted my version and build in my original - and you raise a good point i will have to check my teammate's build details.

According to the Update feature in AC my copy is up to date.

I just went and tested the file on a new machine as well - one with a bit more grunt. And the same issue occurs.

I really appreciate the help Rob

To further confuse the issue - i just checked another drawing file associated with this project. It is a file containing some stories we hotlink into the drawing mentioned in the first issue.

The point here is that the drawings being hotlinked have a layout with the same legend as the one illustrated (or not as the case is) in the image attached in my first post. This instance of the legend draws fine - a white (-1 window background) background and black text).

Would this suggest the problem is localised to my file and not my version/build of archicad?

what I think is someone has sent/received changes with an older build of AC.

Anyway, try to save TW file back as .pln (solo), check if the fill is ok and then teamwork it again. you will not loose any information from the original file.
just give it a go and then let us know...

Unfortunately it turns out the same Rob.

TBH every other fill pin is working. I can create a new fill: set it to transparent background and it is transparent. I can choose a solid and paint it with a greyscale colour - works fine.

As soon as i change the background to -1 window background it turns it black.

well, I suppose you can use the white pen for a workaround, unless you are printing on maroon colour sheets up there in QLD

could you send me that naughty lib part so I can have a look. I do not have AC10 library anywhere on hand at the moment.

PUSH:

This is just a shot in the dark, but have you looked at Model View Options > Options for Fills & Zones > Fill Background?
