Framing Roof Problem

Anonymous
Not applicable
Using Archicad 14

My framing is attaching to my roof membrane and is keeping my roof framing from gavitating to my top plates. I need to reverse the roof membrane with framing.
I use the roof wizard which works perfect, except the fact that its on top of the roof material instead of underneath resting on the plates like it should be. If I turn off the roof material layer, roof framing still does not drop to plates.

Does any one know how to fix this, or suggestions how flip this around. Would very much be appreciated!

Ry,

I would guess that you trimmed the walls to the roof. Trimming operations remain intact until undone. To undo the trim select the walls in question and open their Settings Dialog. Part way down (near the material in AC 12, not sure where in 14) you should see a button that is marked Unto Roof Trim. Click it and then click OK. Your roof trim will be no more. Reselect the wall and desired roofs and do the trim to roof operation again with the roof(s) in the new location.

While there is plenty of use for the trim to roof function, you may want to explore Solid Element Operations (SEO) as well. This will do much the same thing but the result is dynamic in that the trim location will move with the movement of the various elements used for the SEO.

Using SEO is better to trim walls IMO since it follows changes made to the roof.

Generally this is true.

However, as long as you know how each function works and the advantages and disadvantages of either then you can make the best choice. There are times I want a trim to stay unchanged with model changes and other times when the dynamic action is best. Also too many SEO's in a model and you will take a big speed hit.
