You made your post in the 'wishes' forum by mistake I think. Until you know that something is impossible, your post should be in one of the "specific questions" forums, such as "Working in ArchiCAD".

The QuickLayers palette provides pretty much what you want I think. In the screenshot below, I've selected a wall, and am about to click on the "hide others' layers" button. Only the layer containing that wall will be visible then.
When I want to see the other layers again, I click the 'undo' button on the palette (as opposed to 'undo' in the edit menu). You can also lock all others, so that you can see them, but not modify them. Etc.
I recommend that you set up a shortcut key to show the QL palette. Personally, I use ctrl-shift-L QuickLayers and ctrl-L for Layers.
