Key question ADB port USB

Anonymous
Not applicable
Bonjours with all,

I have used version 5,0 of archicad for 6 years. I have a key
of protection Type ADB (round port), my new G5 does not manage this
connection. Does Y have to you it a possibility of exchange of key ADB
in USB via Graphisoft?

My mother tongue is French, sorry for my approximate English.

Thank you for your assistance.

In the US your only path would be to upgrade. I'd be willing to bet that it's the only option in France as well but call your local reseller to find out for sure.

Or you can check out this link http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/imate/

imate is a USB--->ADB solution.

I currently connect key ADB via Imate from griffin. But the software
leaves every 15 minutes while inbdiquant that the key with
disappeared. I however followed all the instructions of griffin.

I have a Griffin imate ADB to USB converter too. The software is simply no good. Still version 1.5.3 beta after more than two years. The device is crap with protection keys. It works so-so with keyboards though. But this is one of the few things that can crash OSX so thoroughly that only a hardware reset/restart will get you going again.

My advice is of course to upgrade Archicad. With version 9 you will find a new world of productivity. It should pay for itself if you do professional work. If you don't want that, the only really useful solution is to find one of the latest machines that have ADB. You should be able to find a used beige G3 for very little money.

I completely agree and Thomas' sentiments reflect those of my clients who, against my advice, tried this route.

OK,
I had no idea that the drivers were so bad. Interesting how they crash OSX.

They must really suck.

??? Is it possible that Graphisoft proposes exchange of keys??? If it
is possible, or do I have to address myself?

There was no USB key for 5.0. You have 2 options:

Option 1. Continue to work on your old computer with 5.0
Option 2. Upgrade to 9.0 and work on your new computer. They will exchange your old key for a new USB key when you upgrade.
