Mouse (wireless) is now not smooth anymore?

So..
I have a laptop, Dell. it's got all the bells-n-whistles. About 4 years old.
I got it as a desktop replacement workstation so it's relatively quick.

As of a few months ago...my mouse (wireless mouse thru USB connection) is now very "jumpy" if you will.
meaning....the mouse skips all over the archicad environment when I'm trying to target nodes......it's not smooth.

What could causing this?
I've checked the mouse batteries....they are ok.
Are there any Archicad settings that can cause a mouse performance to behave in this manner?

Hi Rob,

Firstly, check you haven't got grid snap turned on!

If not, try swapping over to a wired mouse temporarily and see if the problem persists.

Is there an option to change the 'channel' the wireless mouse operates on? ('Un-pair' the mouse, then 'pair' again?) Maybe there is some kind of interference interrupting the signal.

Does the jumpiness still happen in other programs on that machine?

OK, will check snaps but I think I don't have them turned on.
I'll try the wired mouse. see if that helps any. Perhaps there is some sort of "wireless" interference going on I'm not seeing.

One thing I did do was....add a second monitor to my setup. I don't think a second monitor should freak the setup out like this but...who knows.

The "jumpiness" does not happen in any other programs other than in Archicad. it's very odd....it's like the signal to the mouse is being...well, attacked somehow. I'm not sure "attacked" is the right word here. It's as though the mouse teleports from one spot to another. Its basically NOT a smooth movement. and it happens on and off.....I've tested the battery, swapped it out a few times thinking that it's a battery issue but it still persists.

thanks, I'll give your suggestions a shot and report back my findings.

Well....it aint the grid snaps...I checked. They are turned off.
I went and tried to find a "wired mouse"....heck they don't barely make those anymore and the wired mouses I did see are HUGE!..it's like they are for Sasqauch hands or something...geez...

So, I purchased another "wireless" mouse. purchased a new mouse pad, maybe the mouse pad I had was so worn it was causing the mouse optics to freak out....who knows but it wasn't the grid locks....
