In my very neighborhood here in Vancouver, Brightside has created an HDR display that you need to wear shades to look at it because it is so bright! Ooo, baby!
is an article explaining how the LED backlighting technology works....
their first product is a 37" 1920x1080 display - only US$49,000.

What about these?
Is this around the corner?
I heard thses will be sharper and perform better than LCD & plasmas.

Very encouraging - can probably have much higher pixel resolution than LCD.

Dwight, do you remember us looking at an 18" version at the Siggraph future technologies exhibit? They had the display surrounded with a window frame and curtains drawn open. The scenic was a distant sunset. It looked like an actual window in the side of the convention center! Glad to see they are still hard at work on that.
On a side note ArchiFellas, this was the Siggraph where Dwight dropped his business card and some encouraging words toward the LightWorks black box developer. Low and behold, several months later GS signed a deal with LW.

I remember. The display was so bright I had to wear shades.
I used to feel that way about my future.
But now, the future is so fuzzy I need a stronger correction.
Since that meeting with the LightWorks people I learned that the deal was in the works for a long time.
"You get to know the opportunites that are out there…" or something like that.
