Offset problem in BIM Curriculum

Hi,

I'm currently working through the BIM Curriculum - the twin tower model - using ArchiCAD 12. I'm guessing that the accompanying pdf file was written for one of its precursors as there are a few subtle differences, most of them surmountable however I can't seem to get past one niggly bit in Lesson 2 - the offset command.

The pet palette that appears no longer has the Offset icon in it and I have been looking all over the place in order to find what I consider to be a fundamental operation. Am I just being a thickie or has the application changed beyond recognition? I hope it's the former!

If anyone has experienced a similar 'hitch' and managed to fix it, I'd appreciate any advice you can give me. Cheers.

The Palette you want is the Control Box, look for it under the Window Menu -> palettes. Click and Hold the 3rd icon and it is the 4th one.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

I have already got the Relative Construction methods Offset box active and my wall is selected and I'm onthe Wall Tool, but the only options appearing in the Pet Palette are: Drag, Rotate, Mirror, Elevate and Multiply. I also have the tracker active and in the tracker window the options are: Distance and Angle.

Do you know how I can get an Offset prompt to appear please?

Can you post what the Curriculum step is.

AFAIK the offset tool will not show up in the Pet Palette.

The step is 2.4. BUILDING THE MODEL – BUILDING A
TOWER on pp35-36.

It shows on the Pet palette as long as:

1. You have selected more than one wall
2. The nodes of the walls are touching
3. You click on a node.
4. If the walls are grouped you have to enable the "Suspend Group Option"

The steps of the tutorial are correct.

Many thanks, Eduardo. I can see the Offset icon in the pet palette now that I have clicked on the Suspend Group option. I can now proecced to offset them!
