Publising issues

Hello all,

We’re in the process of migrating from ArchiCAD 8.1 directly to 11.0. We are having an issue when it comes time to publish.

When using ‘publisher’ In Plotmaker 3.1 we were printing, not saving files, using Net-It-Now as the printer (from http://www.net-it.com/netitnow.htm The output is in a *.csf format. These files are then read using a free product called Brava Reader) and ending up with a single, multi-page document. What we’re finding in ArchiCAD 11 is that when we print using Net-It-Now as the printer, with exactly the same printer settings/properties etc. we end up with multiple single page documents.

What we have been doing to get the single multi-page document is creating the PDF file and then printing that with Net-It-Now. We are finding that the resulting file sizes are considerably larger using this method compared to the earlier version created with Plotmaker 3.1. For example, the file size using the earlier method is about 400 KB compared to 2.5 MB with the new method for the same set of plans!

We'd like to produce our single multipage *.csf file directly from Publisher rather than going through the PDF conversion because we post these drawings to our extranet for our trades and customers to access and the smaller file size works much better.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Ian Cassley

Ian,

This is definitely a case for your local support guys, and the one that can hardly be solved from far away.

What I have noticed in your description is that now in 11 you are missing the Brava reader step.

If you want a booklet of print files, then the 11 Publisher should be aware of your printer driver and have an option to make a single booklet - as it does with PDF. Not likely.

Therefore, I do recommend talking to the local Archicad people in order to find the best solution.

Thank you for the response.

We are still using Brava Reader to open the *.csf files produced by Net-It-Now.

The only change in our process is that we are changing from the Plotmaker 3.1 publisher to the ArchiCAD 11 publiser.
