I click on Edit > Search & Replace text, the dialogue comes up, I choose my filters and search terms etc, I hit search, get a half second blue circle, then nothing.
The next box that I'm used to seeing doesnt display (because it wasn't updated to AC28?) but is clearly there as a phantom because Archicad behaves badly in the background (display glitches etc).
When i open Search & Replace Text again and hit cancel, AC behaves normally again.
If i click on Replace All, the dialogue box doesn't progress to the next one and just remains there frozen, but still have limited functionality behind the frozen box.
Ac28.0.1
I AM VERY SICK OF THE ENTRY LEVEL QUALITY CONTROL
only way to get rid of it all is to restart AC.
we just want software that works dependably.............................. every tool or feature i go to use these days just doesnt work. im sure AC1 would be more helpful at this point. so frustrating.
Also, if the userbase is to conduct quality control for Graphisoft/N, then it would make sense to introduce a board to this forum called 'Bugs found by stressed users in the lead up to Christmas'. Or at least a Label which can be called 'Urgent Bugs'.
Both seem to be missing, and presumably Labels are locked down so GS can save face. i know 9/10 of my posts labels would include 'bug'
time taken to write this up: 20mins
time charge to GS/N: $50NZD, ill invoice you
Operating system used: Windows 11

I just tried it myself in AC 28.0.2 and it still does not work at all. Now have to go through every plan view and section/elevation to change a line of text. Will have to get keynotes working

Having a similar issue at my office with our company template.
Arch28 Search & replace will work fine if I have selected a text box, but will only search that text box.
Search & Replace will not work when attempting to search the entire document.
However it seams to work on the Default Archicad 28 template, so looks to be some sort of corruption to the Company template but has only become an issue on Archicad 28...
I Have reported this to our Support & hopefully they will save me an entire rebuild of the company template.

I have just done the same test with a new and reset, and it works correctly. Also tested with text boxes selected, and it works in my current files.
Tried resetting the work environment to a default, and that has not fixed the issue either.

I can't get this to work either in 28.
I will report this as a bug, I suggest you do the same to your local Archicad support.
The more reports they get about this, the more chance it will get fixed.

Update.
Support couldn't replicate the issue
So decided it was due to our custom/ third-party libraries,
I un-linked them,
Ran the following commands highlighted below:
available at:
window>toolbars>edit GDL library parts
Then relinked our libraries
Works fine now.
Thursday
I got the same message from Graphisoft that it was working for them.
I loaded a default Graphisoft template, and indeed it does work.
I opened my template and it does not.
So I have sent my template to them to investigate together with a bug report as I got Archicad to crash..
Your idea above is interesting, but I am not sure why the libraries and value tables will affect searching and re-placing text.
But stranger things have happened.
I will experiment later.
I am not sure about dumping the mapping value table as I need that to make the Graphisoft objects compatible with my template.
Still, I will give it a try.

HI, Barry,
After saving a .pln then closing and reopening it. the issue has come back, so I am doing further investigation into pin pointing what library may be causing an issue. Seams to be related to the loading of one of my extra libraries:
Custom office libraries,
Resene surface catalog
Ci Migration libraries.
Interestingly
I can replicate a crash if i remove the libraries then use the select all function. I would assume the search & replace would also use the select all function to search everything.
yesterday
I have been doing some more testing,
I believe the issue has something to do with the custom libraries & having duplicate notes/drawings on layouts.
We have a worksheet of notes.
We place these notes on the layouts as our standard notes.
Some of these notes are repeating across multiple layouts,
Once I deleted the text that is appearing in multiple layouts the search & replace function works on all viewports.
I have reported this issue to our customer support hopefully they can come up with a fix.
