Hi,
I downloaded the evaluation version of Archicad 12 (french one) .
When I start the launcher and choose to install AC, I got a "processing picture" that is displayed for 5 seconds and it simply exits .
I tried to launch directly the setup.exe and archive.exe of the AC12 install directory, and I got exactly the same problem.
(I got the last version of Java JRE )

Try uninstalling Java, then reinstall using the copy of Java that comes with ArchiCAD.
If this works, you can update Java back to latest version again after you installed ArchiCAD.

After several hours playing whit java install /uninstall , I found a solution .
But a VERY strange solution . Someone told me to run ClearType Tuner
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/Downloads/powertoys
/Xppowertoys.mspx
It's a utility of the 'powertoy tool' from microsoft to adjust the way the text is displayed on the screen.
It has nothing to do with java but it's working ...
