Very slow Copy/Cut in AC10

Hi,
I'm wondering why when selecting even simple lines or even a line, and choose the copy command, it takes forever to process before the arrow appears back to be able to perform a paste action. Then the paste is as fast as before with AC9
I do have a G4 but in AC9 the cut and copy work very fast even with very complex info.
Anything I can do other than buy a new machine?
Thanks

I had the same problem, and my reseller suggested that I should change my netwok/internet settings.

Go to the network panel in system preferences, and enter your DNS server numbers in the TCP/IP settings. This is "optional" for the OS, but for some reason has an impact on archicad.

May just be snake oil but it seemed to make a difference in my AC10.

Cheers,

Thanks JB,

Had that already in place. I got rid of a few DWG reference drawings I had imported and closed off all other applications and the function improved to an acceptable level of speed. I guess my problem is really below standard hardware, I'm grateful it works. Love 10.

We have similar problems. But for me, it is not exactly clear what i have to enter for the dns-server number.

Do i have to enter the ip-address of our file-server?
Or do i have to enter the ip-address of the router, wich delivers dhcp-ip-numbers?

Thanks

I'm having this problem today - just started in 10 on a new small outbuilding (get into 10 slowly!). I'm on a PC with Windows XP Pro on an office network license.

The TCP/IP settings on this PC are set to "obtain an IP address automatically" and "obtain DNS server address automatically".

Our CAD manager is away over the Christmas/New Year break.

Hi Guys -

This is an old problem that seems to raise it's ugly head from time to time..............

The best [and most popular] tried + true method for unlocking/speeding up cut/copy is, navigate to the file folder your project is in and select the containing folder, then reselect the .PLN file. This almost always cures it, for most of us Windoze users. [Only some specs in signatures so just assuming Bill's software, never heard of this on MAcs.] If this doesn't get it, do a search of copy freeze, lockup, slow or some other iteration and you'll find plenty of other ideas..........Hope this helps and good luck!

Do you mean from inside the "Open" dialogue within the AC application, or from the Explorer?

(I like to think of myself as a Mac user (by choice) and a Windows user only by circumstance (work environment)).
Thanks for the advice. This morning I was going to apply it, but it seems to be working fine today.

So long since I've regularly looked at the Talk, that I haven't noticed that - I'll use this quiet period to try to catch up on current posts, methinks ...

Good Morning Kim -

Yes, from internet explorer..........in particular, keeping an explorer window open makes it faster. It is specifically discussed here:

along with other ideas and historical perspective

My troubles with this demon have only rarely showed up since I upgraded to 10 from 8.1, and it even "self-fixes" most of the time now Who knows?

Thanks Jeff I will definitely remember it now!

This did happen to me quite a lot before, but hasn't happened to me at all on this computer (almost a year) until I moved to 10. My fixing measure in past instances was much harsher than advised here - being a restart.

Glad to be of assistance.............I was going nuts when this was happening nearly every time, it's like a bad dream now, thank God!

Hope the cure stays!
