compatibility - there's only one way to find out! buy one and see... Actually a lot of high end mice tend to behave erratically with archiCAD - i have a logitech mx1000 - and have to hold Ctrl whilst zooming otherwise it pans.
Speeding up usage - only if you can see the screen from wherever you envisage using the mouse...
if you're looking for an advantage over the ol' desktop mouse, I've heard digi pens/wacoms are good, but never tried one myself.
