zooming with mouse wheel

Anonymous
Not applicable
On occasion, I loose the ability to zoom with the scroll wheel on my mouse (and other mice I have tried).

This started happening in ArchiCAD 9 and now is happening in ArchiCAD 11. It usually lasts for several hours, and is particularly bad with a certain file.

Any suggestions are very much appreciated.

One feature that GS did away with when they introduced the scroll wheel zooming is the "return to last view" which I miss terribly.
They did no such thing. It's here:

Does anything change if you temporarily disconnect and reconnect the mouse?
No, unfortunately, but thanks.

you simply need to look for "Previous Zoom" and "Next Zoom" to program a keyboard shortcut accordingly....

Let me rephrase that.....

They moved it from where it was and I never bothered to go and look for it because I am, at my rotten core a lazy and slovenly sod.

So, we are having a similar problem in our office, except that the mouse NEVER scrolls. It scrolled on only one computer, an older iMac, which we just replaced. That current user is quite dismayed at not being able to use the scroll button to zoom. Panning works just fine using the scroll button on the mighty mouse, but no zoom. Is there a hidden setting somewhere that controls this? I have the mouse settings set to 'button 3' and 'scrolling 360'.

closing out of archicad and reopening the file has been working for me

We also have this problem. But it seems to be isolated to specific files. One coworker has her mouse zoom die on her multiple times a day. Invariably, when I open her file on my machine my mouse zoom also freezes after a while. Which doesn't happen with any of my files.

My guess is that it is caused by a screwy library part. Probably a window or door with a missing fill or something to that effect. I'd definitely wager money though that it's a problem door or window.

Seems like a great way to frustrate new users!

For those who might be interested.
No trouble here with squeaky/sticky or bad behavior mice here in
the wonderful world of PC AC 12 🙂
So far, what a dream version, (at least on my PC).
And my PC is not even that fast and no duel core (yet).
Way faster than 11.
Thanks G.S.

I realize this is not directly related except it is also a mouse issue but I have noticed that the pan function which I can access when I push my scroll button down and then move my ball ceases to function if there are other programs open with their windows maximized. If I minimize them except for AC it works just fine.

I only mention this for those who may have noticed this annoying behavior and not figured it out yet. I use a Logitech Trackman Wheel which is very fast once you get used to it and you never run out of desk space.

Cheers,
