2D Detail Level on Windows/Doors

Hi All,

As I mentioned, I'm getting acclimated to AC28 and the Library Packs. What I can't seem to find now is the option for the Doors and Windows 2D Detail Level to be "off".

We frequently use this when the AC door or window doesn't have the right floor plan options and we only use the 3D version.

Is this another result of moving to the Library Packs?

Am I missing something? Did it move somewhere I haven't found yet?  Or was it eliminated?

Joel

I think you will find both 2D and 3D level of detail are affected.

This was discussed early on with Graphisoft and we asked them not to change it.

But ...

With objects you can get away with using hidden layers.

Not so easy with doors and windows.

Mind if I interject?  You could go into Model View Options, under Construction Element Options and set Door and Windows to Hide in Floor Plan so that they don't show in plan view but they continue to show in 3D views.  The only problems I see with this method are, that you can't set it to individual doors and windows, its a global setting.  And two, the marker ID's get turned off as well.  The older version the markers continued to show when you set the 2D detail to Off.  In addtion, to the level of detailing, there are even more global settings available in the Detail Level of Door and Window Symbols (USA) that might help your visial presentation.  If you hadn't explored these areas, I just though it would be worth noting.

That is why the individual objects should have control.

As Joel said, he has a door where the 2D symbol is not quite what is wanted.

It is pointless hiding all the doors globally.

Just hide that one door's 2D view and draw your own.

Of course you could include a solid white fill to hide the 2D view.

But as we raised during testing, if the option was there in the old objects to turn off 2D and 3D views individually per object, why take that away?

People get used to working that way, and now have to change to some other method.

And it was not just doors and windows, but other objects as well if I remember correctly.

I don't mind not having the option for objects as visibility is easily controlled by layers (which is my preference anyway).

Door and windows don't have their own layers though?

You're right, Barry.  The option I'm asking about HAS TO be for each individual door and window.

Yes, Layer control would work for other objects, and I use this for those situations. But it doesn't work for door and windows.  I suppose you could try and use Renovation Filters or the new Design Options, but intuitively, that doesn't seem worth the effort.

The MVO options are universal and I use them for that purpose, I have for years.

I can set linetypes, pens and still "sort of" use the Floor Plan Display options that remain, but that sometimes affects the 3D pens as well.  Simply turning Off the 2D or 3D was perfectly simple.  But I guess someone didn't think it was needed any more.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone, but I'll keep searching, waiting & Wishing they returned this function.
