A "Smart" roof label

I've searched this forum and can't find anything.

I want to make/get a label object that can be used in the following manner:

Click on a roof then click on the desired location for the label. The label needs to display the rise and run of the 'clicked on' roof.

Is this possible? and How?

Dan,

This looks like a great tool, but it isn't picking up the slope for me. Any idea what might be wrong? (It inserts as a 0:12 slope) Roofs are unlocked and displayed.
Thanks, make sure you are placing it as a roof accesory...How are you placing it?

Well, that works a lot better! (I was placing it like a standard object previously.)

Thanks!

For anyone interested I'm posting an updated/enhanced version of this roof accessory. Basically it fixes an arrow direcion problem thanks to a suggestion by Peter Devlin. It also allows you to display the slope in feet and inches.

A more informative screenshot will follow this post

Can someone translate this acessory to show the option for metrics?
Dan, which part of the GDL script should I change?
rslope=ABS((tan(AC_pitch))*12)---->Why 12?

Jaime,
The accesory is written the way US users indicate roof slopes. Basically the slope is always based on how much rise in inches occurs in 12 inch run...or how much rise in feet occur in a 12 foot run.

I can add some parameters to display the slope in degrees or even percent. Just let me know how you, preferably, indicate your roof slopes in metric?

As far as "Why 12?" goes, its basic trig calculating rise over 12 units of run...It's really just an imperial units kinda' thing.

Dan,

This is a great tool well done, it could be even better if we could show the pitch as a degree.

Just my 20 cents worth!!

Keep up the good work

Thanks Nuge,
Based on yours and Jaimes' comments, I've updated the part to include options for displaying slopes in degrees or percent. Hope it works better for you now...The updated part will be attached in the following post.

P.S. What is the metric standard for indicating roof slopes on roof plans? ...degrees?

Thanks,

OK,
here's the latest version
Now also includes options for displaying slopes in degrees or percent.

Thanks Dan look Great,

Not sure what the "metric standard" is but here in New Zealand everything is noted and discussed in degrees

Hope this helps

Nuge,
In the US we typically indicate slopes pointing down the slope...Is this the way you do it?

I know it sounds silly, but just want to verify because your standards for wdw/door hinges are opposite of ours.
