AC9 window problem?

Anonymous

Hi all-

Just diving into AC9 and I've noticed that I can't get any of the new windows to show without the sill or apron. In my neck of the woods, exterior sills are not used, and the exterior trim is "picture-framed".

With 8.1 (with a W1 Casement window for instance) there was a Sill selection tab under Parameters that allowed for "None/Inside/Outside/Both sides". I can't find it with the new AC9 windows.

The bigger problem...if I open an old AC8.1 project with AC9, all the windows now have sills and aprons, which means I can't use my shiny new AC9 at all.

Hopefully I'm missing something...otherwise I'll have to use the AC7 library or a third party software.

Help anyone???

Is your Sill and board parameter on or off? If it is off, and you still see the sill, than there is a problem.

It appears that there is no direct "Sill on/off" button anymore. The closest thing I can find is in the third drop-down list ("Brick Moulding, Sill and..."). There is an on/off for "Bottom frame at sill", but this does not remove the sill.

I emailed Graphisoft several days ago without a response. Wondering if this is just an oversight limited to the US version, or maybe a revised window library is pending?

I dread having to go back and recreating a weeks worth of work in AC8.1 over something so silly...

Have you checked the Work Profiles? Different Profiles have options that are not available to the others.

Can you make the sill dimension zero?

I've brought 5 projects over to 9 from 8.1 and completed them there, with no problems with the windows.

Could you give the lib part name of one of the windows giving your problems, or better, could you save a wall or two from your project containing (a) window(s) that don't show up correctly as a module (select walls, save selection as module), zip that and post it here? Your params will be saved as part of the mod, so any of us can load the module with our libs and see if we can tell what's happening.

(Ideally, give us a mod from the working 8.1 file and the same wall from the 9.0-not-working file.)

Thanks,
Karl

I can set the sill thickness to 0", but it still shows where the sill wants to be. I'll attach 2 modules with similar windows.

Another idea...my reseller instructed me to remove the AC8.1 Library.pla and use only the AC9 Library instead. Any major problems with loading both? That still won't solve the issue of future v9 projects tho...

Thanks for all the help.

Dale,

ArchiCAD 9 USA windows were re-designed according to new specifications. You turn things on and off by setting it's size to 0. E.g. you turn off brick moulding by setting thickness to 0, as (0-none) indicates at the parameter name. Now, we made the mistake that sill thickness does not work like that. Setting sill thickness to 0 should turn off sill completely. We will correct that, but untill that set sill thickness aqnd nosing to 0 and turn off 'bottom frame @ sill'

But if you continue a 8.1 project, maybe it's a good idea to keep using the 8.1 objects. You can load both libraries, but then you have to be aware which part are you actually using. I do not recommend to place W1_Casement of both the 8.1 and 9 libraries, because you might start mixing them up.

I seem to have the sill selection down. My problem is that the wall lines passing thru the window in plan show. Can these be turned off or hidden? See attached .jpg

Gergely-

Thanks for the advice on the multiple libraries. Is there any time frame on the proposed window / Library fix? That will impact whether new projects are started in AC9 or not. On a side note, I've also noticed that several doors and windows do not have a "trim" availability. Check out "D2" door and "Bow and Bay windows 9". Seems that all the doors and windows should have the same capability...

Jim-

I'm anxious to see how you tweaked the sill...but you didn't attach the .jpg.

Thanks again...
