Hi everyone,

I am using ArchiCAD 8.1 and need help on adding a radius on a steel beam so that i can use it as a rafter in a curved roof. I would greatly appreciate it if somebody could help me out by either telling me how to do it or just doing it for me.

thanks.

i know about the "web beam curved" but i want to be able to curve the beam that i have posted. as it allows you to select the section type and weight easily.
Using the TrussMaker you can specify your sections.

actually on closer examination the tube command cant follow a curve path
Just for the sake of discussion: if it is a circular path then you can probably use the sine and cosine method for setting y and x values for each point that DNC makes so much use of in his Cookbook. I think. Sort of. If on the other hand it is a parabolic or hyperbolic or catenary or other path, then err of course you know the formula.

Is it an I beam you are after? I made a couple of curved beams a while back I could let you have.

I've uploaded an Archive file here... http://homepage.mac.com/fuzzytnth3/TLOTT/

You have to type in the overall size of the beam and flange and web sizes less laborious to script that way

Enjoy
