Can't find the files for duplicate library parts - not LCF

I have been working on cleaning up my library today, specifically getting rid of duplicates in the various libraries, but there are some duplicates listed that I can't find files for at all, and some where I can only locate one file. And none of the libraries showing duplicates are Library Container Files - they are all just in folders, so I am able to search them, and I am searching in the folders themselves (as opposed to whole computer/network searches, although I have tried that too). So can anyone suggest why I might not be able to see these files? I have turned on hidden file visibility as well. Let me know if you need any more information or screen shots.

Can you post a screenshot of the Library Loading Report that shows these messages and the names of files?

Library - Library (71)

Couldn't post this one in its correct orientation due to the restrictions on image size.

I'm pretty sure that the 353 duplicates listed between 'ArchiCAD 16 Library' and 'Library' are mainly textures, which I should be able to find easily, so I didn't bother posting a screenshot for that one.

Well I have discovered something that I think will help sort this problem out. I noticed that in 'Library' there was an object called 'Hinged Gate 16', and another called 'Hinged Gate USA', and they were both the same size. But for 'Hinged Gate USA', there was also a folder called 'Hinged Gate USA (Do Not Modify)', or something to that effect. This was one case where I could only find one set of the supposed duplicate library parts. So I deleted that folder and 'Hinged Gate USA.gsm', and that got rid of 67 of the 71 duplicates. Two more of those duplicates were easy to sort out, and that just leaves another two where I again can only find one file for each. They are called "DMS_door_threshold' and DMS_door_threshold_OLD', and are found in a folder structure that goes \Library\Objects\GDL Parts\08_Openings\DMS Doors\. So it looks like these too are being duplicated in a 'whole' object, or one that is not divided into parts. And I guess this is what I was getting at - ways that the library manager might find duplicates where there aren't obviously duplicate files.

So can anyone comment on this, or give any advice or resources to help me better understand how this works, so that I can finish cleaning up these libraries? I don't have any experience with objects outside of their typical use in an ArchiCAD project.

And I probably need to point out that I bought Eric Bobrow's 'Master Template', and from that I got a bunch of the US library parts, which I stuck in my 'Library' folder, thinking that they were different to the international library parts, and that they might come in handy. But are they (or some of them) in fact the same as the international library? Because this may account for the large number (now 270 after deleting duplicate texture files) of duplicates between 'ArchiCAD 16 Library' and 'Library'.

It seems to me from those lists you posted that many of the duplicates are macros objects or user interface images for GDL objects.
If I correctly recall, those (DO NOT MODIFY) type of folders are usually found in the Embedded Library and belong to objects downloaded from BIMComponents.com. Here you could have duplicates if those are GS objects. So that (DO NOT MODIFY) folders of the "Hinged Gate USA" object contains exact duplicates of files that also exist in the ArchiCAD default library because of "Hinged Gate 16" object.

You can try this: save your file, then delete this (DO NOT MODIFY) folder from the Embedded Library. There should be much less duplicates and the Hinged Gate USA file should still work since those macros and user interface images it may need are still there in the AC default library.

Thanks Laszlo, I did delete the (DO NOT MODIFY) folder, and as you said, it did clear up a lot of the duplicates. And thanks for your explanation. I've decided I will work out where the problem parts are by removing sub folders from my library and reloading the library each time to narrow it down.

Glad it is getting better.
From looking at your attached images I see that most of the duplicates are non-placeable objects. Your 2nd screenshot says 1 object is placeable, your 3rd screenshot says 0 placeable. This means those elements are macros or interface images.

How does the Report look now?
