Can window parameters transfer different window types?

Migrating from 8.1 to 10........somewhere between 8.1 and 10, I seem to recall the advertised ability, [maybe in 9], to transfer parameters, the trim/appearance, line + fill, + marker settings between DIFFERENT window types, being the ones I'm after, say a single hung and then a casement, generating a uniform look, in plan, sections + elevations, without having to work your way through all the settings for every window.

But.........I cannot find the documentation [read instructions] for this. Was it a dream? If this is indeed possible can some kind soul point me in the right direction please.

It works as long as the windows have the same parameters.

Select a window
Open the window settings
Find the other window that you want to transfere the parameters to.
Ctrl-Alt Click on the window preview in the lower left corner of the dialog box.

Thanks.

I was just trying to avoid using a picture of me....

While we're getting all escited, I wonder if someone could verify this for me....

On both Windows and doors (and stee beams), if you parameter transfer from a casement to an awning... you still get a casement!... If you parameter transfer from a Single Door to a Double Door... you still get a single door! If you parameter transfer from a TUBE STEEL BEAM to a WIDE FLANGE... you still get a TUBE STEEL BEAM...

Anyone?

I'm still in 9 (Special Addition Library), but it seems to change from an awning to a casement or a wide flange to a tube...... and even a single to double door. I'll admit they get a little weird. The double door went from a 3070 to a dbl door w/ one 6" leaf and one 2'-6", but it seems like most of the parameters transferred and the leaf thing is an easy fix... I haven't done a lot with it yet, but I still like that some of the parameters change even if I have to tweak them. Ultimately it still saves me time.....

Parameter transfer works by transferring values when the internal parameter names match exactly. In those two beams, the shape is internally called 'Profile'. The Shapes' parameter lists have CUSTOM in them, so there's nothing to stop the user, or the transfer thing, from putting a TS shape name in a W beam object. Check out the 3D and you see that it is in fact a W, made with the 'Dimensions' parameters. The names match here too: 'ws', 'ds', and 'wt'. So it's keeping the name string and the dimensions and doing its best, never mind that it's nonsense.

If you change the shape spec after transferring, the dims will correct themselves.

IMO the shape name and the dims should have the 'Unique Parameter' (U) button pressed inside the library part; with this on, a given parameter won't transfer. For the beams, you should have to choose the shape, while it keeps the cut planes, 2D settings, etc. This is GS's mistake.

I assume the doors are similar but I didn't look. The important thing is the internal name of the parameter, and the 'U' button.
