so I'm looking to model a custom window as follows, the window consists of a precast concrete frame with a top hung aluminium window insert.
I can model the concrete frame and window no problem, but when saving the custom window how can I indicate the opening part of the window?
Searching through the forum I find no mention of anything similar so is it possible?

If you mean the sash opening lines in elevation then I would model these on your glass with a morph line before saving as a custom window.
I haven't tried this but it should work.

The Dutch subscription library has a library part for this, that, when saved with the window, will behave according to the Model View Options.
If you find yourself making a lot of custom windows, it might be worth seeing if the Dutch reseller can share the object with you.
I'm sure the bit of Dutch that is there, is easy enough to understand for someone who I assume also speaks Afrikaans.
They have a whole addon that streamlines making custom windows/doors, with correct display of dimensions in schedules, automatic floorplan 2D symbols and such.
www.kubusinfo.nl is the website of the Dutch reseller.

Erwin
thanks very much for the info that is quite interesting.
Custom windows are great but too static, this addon sounds like something that can add a bit of needed flexibility (which probably all versions can use).
I will give the reseller a try, I'm sure I'll be able to translate half decently

If that is not what you refer to then this is another option.

It might do the same. Our subscription parts are developped and scripted by the reseller themself.
You get some library parts to make doorleafs, opening lines, windows, an addon that helps with saving and it ties in with their model view options for door/window schedules.
