Detail Markers - v10 vs v11

I'm finally migrating a rather large project from v10 to v11 (don't ask why it's taken this long - there are reasons)

However, I've hit a snag with the detail markers. 1. I can't just select the marker and change it as, for some reason, the border disappears.
2. The markers behave differently. I prefer v11, but I would like the Marker Line Direction option returned, as sometimes I need to use it in a situation as shown in the screenshot.

Bruce:

Using the Built-In Detail Marker, I can edit the marker line using the Pet Palette with the Stretch option. The Marker Head parameters do not show up in the dialog box for the marker.
