Floor material error (Pergo)

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hello!

I've tried to create a floor by using Pergo flooring (http://www.europe.pergo.com/Professional/Templates/Support/CAD_Archive/CT_CADArchive.asp), but something is wrong as you can see in the attached picture. I have placed identical parquet objects side by side and it seems that some of them are not filled with the selected material. Quite strange in my opinion -- or is there some good explanation for this behaviour?

Any ideas how to solve this problem?

I'm using AC 9.0 (The library itself is designed for v. 6.5 as stated on Pergo homepage, but I've thought that it doesn't matter because some of the objects are working).

Regards,

Timo

Timo: I too am having a problem figuring out how to use the Pergo libraries. We have a project that Pergo is specified. Any Ideas on how to make the library work would be appreciated. Changing the texture has no effect, neither in open gdl nor when photo rendering.
When trying to place the opject it seem that you can only place one plank at a time. That just does not seem right.
I know this is an old thread, does anyone have any new insights????
Any help would be appreciated. I went to the pergo website and did not seem to find any solutions there either.

This Pergo stuff is second rate:

1: The custom sizing allows you to make the board bigger.
2: Why bother, unless you need to quantize it.
3: My approach: make a surface with the pergo texture.
put it on a floor slab.
4: Still lousy - see attached. Image is unevenly lit in the texture photo, therefore pulses as a surface.

I've outlined a way to make a convincing wood floor in my book. Yes, you DO have to make it from individual boards. That is easy enough. You make an array of boards [slabs] with some length variety, save as module. Place in a floor plan and use wall to trim the array to fit the room.

As for the surface: Pick the part of the Pergo texture that is typical for the actual sample. In Photoshop, make three variations of level. Make four materials and randomly assign them to different boards. This is getting close to reasonable wood flooring.
