How to create vertical 3D text?

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hello, hello again!

I want to create 3d text but want it to sit vertically on a wall surface rather than horizontally so you read it from floor to ceiling - a bit like how words are written on a book spine.

Can anyone help?

Someone did tell me that you have to create each letter in a slab and then lift the slab. But if this is so, I can't see how you can lift a slab?

Thanks in advance!

The GDL script itself is not that complex for making 3D text, however I don't think there is an option to wrap words to one letter per line. You would have to break up the text in to multiple lines or PARAGRAPH for the GDL command. After this you can just make a TEXTBLOCK with the paragraphs and use RICHTEXT.

Refer to the GDL Reference Guide available from the help menu in ArchiCAD.

A quick way to get script going is to type in a 'normal' 2D text and drag that from the plan view to 2D script window in a new object.
