Import .OBJ .3DS into archicad and convert to .gsm

DWGs can be opened directly as library parts. 3DS files can be opened with an add-on (which I believe is in the "Goodies" folder in your ArchiCAD folder. I'm pretty sure there are other options but don't remember off the top of my head.

Hi guys, i know this seems like a silly question, however i have forgotten how to import various object formats into archicad and save them as ".gsm" to use in my archicad libraries

Gives you a historical overview 😉 The principle of doing it is still the same.

Djordje,

Why ArchiCAD make so huge gsm files from binary 3DS models? What about 50 imported 3DS chairs in a scene? No way to work!

It´s a shame ArchiCAD can´t deal with the World standart 3D format.

We need comunication with the world out there!

Yep.

The files are huge because they are dumb triangulated surfaces. Quite enough foor loks ... but we go more than skin deep, don't we?

I agree that the communication is needed; please lobby at Autodesk forums for IFC 2.2 compliance.
