Library Parts Not Working Properly

Anonymous

My library parts are not working right. When ever I select one, say a window, and place it into a wall I get several messages that files can't be found in the GDL script and a couple others. What could be wrong??

Here is the report of everything wrong when I use a window. This just started happening and I don't know what could be wrong.

You window is missing referenced macro files that it need in order to build the library part. You need to load the 8.1 window and door macro files.

The report states that some fills (not files) are not found.
Notice that the cause may be that the report states
that you have a duplicated data base.
Thank you,

Steve:

In addition to the suggestions above, also check the parameters for the library part (see screen shot). A missing fill can also cause the problem you have described. Hope this helps.

First, the Duplicate data base error means you probably have more than one library loaded and they each contain the _US_DB

In the error message highlite W Arched Cas 81.gsm then go to File/GDL Objects/Open Object...

The problem file will open

Then go to Edit/Go to Line... and you will see what fill it is looking for.

The line will probably be calling for a Fill by number (for example, 73) If you look in the Attribute Manage there is probably no Fill number 73. You will need to load a Fill or change the default fill to a differen number.

David Maudlin I am having the same problem, but it is a missing fill that is causing it as you suggested, i checked your screenshot to see how to fix it, but in my version of archicad (student version) the only editable option under 3d representation is turning shadows on or off. is there another solution???

Which release of ArchiCAD (v15, v16 etc.) are you using?
Also, you are probably using a different object which whas different parameters.
What you need to do is check all parameters where you need to specify a Fill and see if it says "MISSING" instead of showing the currently specified Fill Type. Then change it to a Fill Type existing in the project by selecting it from the pop-up list.

I am using version 15 as that's the version they use at school. its the stairs that don't work in 3d, all other objects seem to show in 3d without a problem.
I have looked through all the parameters i can edit and none of them say missing, although it seems that I have a lot less editable parameters, which could be the problem?

I keep getting these error reports every time i modify something and switch between plan view to section view or 3d, everything seems to be working normally but each time the error report has to pop up my archicad freezes for a few seconds, is there any way of disabling it what is the solution to these reports, i am using archicad 22 latest version, build number 5009, library build number 4029.54.

You need to open the stair settings and set the "Missing" fills and materials to ones that you actually have in your file.

It seems you are using a file that does not have the same fills (and surfaces and building materials as these use fills as well) as used by default in the stair objects.
So you have 2 choices really.
Set them manually every time you place a stair - you could set up favourites that use the correct fills to save you setting them every time.
Or import the fills (and surfaces and building materials?) from the default template (via Attribute Manager) - but this may mess with your current files attributes so use caution - don't do this unless you know what you are doing with the Attribute Manager.
