Materials on a GDL object

Hi,

I was wondering if it is possible to apply 2 materials to a single GDL object, similar to the way you can select seperate materials to either side of a wall. If it will help, the reason for this request is a follows...

I have created a custom spherical room in MaxonForm. When the object is returned to AC it is a single GDL object. I wish to have the outside of the dome one material and the inside another. Can this be done?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanking all who have helped me in the past and may help me in the future.

I am a novice with GDL and I've never used maxon, but as long as it saves the object as an editable script then you should be able to assign different materials to the various sides by adjusting the GDL code to show the materials you want. If it saves it as a binary object, then you are out of luck I think.

As I think more about it, some objects are limited to one material, but have a variant that can use mulitiple materials. For example: an object made with PRISM would be one uniform material, but using CPRISM_ it can have separate top, side, and bottom materials.... Of course it might be easier to make use SEO operations to transfer the materials as another way around the problem.

Read the MaxonForm manual. There is an explanation of using Colors to MaxonForm geometry, which can then be connected with ArchiCAD materials upon import. This is required to do what you need to do, without messing with the GDL scripts.
