STACKING STAIR???

Jeff Galbraith

Is it possible to build a single stair object that stacks on top of itself? I've been able to build 'U' shaped stairs that have only 2 flights and one intermediate landing. I can also build stairs with 3 (or more) flights as long as none of the flights is directly above another flight. However, the second I adjust the blue layout line in plan to circle back on top of itself archicad won't let me do it.

How then are we supposed to make stairs with 3 stacking flights? Please don't say we have to break them up into separate stair objects...

How will this stairway be realized on the construction site ?
By my home the concrete stairs are prefabricated floor by floor.
So you had to do your own GDL object to do this but...

Perfection is not of this world, not even at Archicad

*These two objects do not seem constrained by a commercial right

It is a limitation of the Stair Tool. There are quite a few threads about this. Please use the search function before creating a new thread.

Yes you will have to stack separate stairs on top of each other.
You can control all of the end connections so they join correctly.
The hardest part is working out the required riser height.
To do this I just place a dummy straight stair that travels the overall height that you want, then use that riser height in the ones that you will piece together.

I've created a spiral stair with custom treads that replace the standard treads. This has caused part of the top of the stair (a custom landing) to overlap the bottom tread. The resulting 2D symbol has lots of issues.

I would not recommend trying to make a stair that overlaps itself with one stair.
