Smoother Objects with 17

I have forgotten how to make objects have smoother curves.

On the left is the object. On the right are the original lines and curves.

What can I do to make the curves smoother when making objects ?

quick fix is to split the circles so they are arcs. Then it will be smooth as shown on the right.

I am looking for a better way than this kind of work-around.
