we discovered 2 great library elements which are not in the US version of the library
the Variable Window 17
(can be customized to be almost every window...makes design changes very easy)
and the Zone_Stamp_17
(which updates the area of the zone automatically)
if we use both libraries we have a lot of duplicates so we would like to move these 2 items over to the US version...just i seem to a bit clueless about how this can be done...any advise would be very much appreciated

ld5ld5:
The problem with modifying the standard US Library is that your modifications would be lost when the Library is updated. You should create a new folder for the parts you want to add to your standard setup and load that library in addition to the ArchiCAD library; best practice would have these libraries as part of your ArchiCAD template file.
You should add a Signature to your Profile (click the Profile button near the top of this page) with your ArchiCAD version and operating system (see mine for an example) for more accurate help in this forum.

Thanks for asking about this... I wasn't aware of that window, and it is great to know about!
There are NO library duplicates/conflicts if you download the part from within ArchiCAD rather than try to load multiple libraries.
See screenshot. When you search for a library part in the object settings dialog, AC searches online for parts available for download... they show up with the blue/green globe icon in the lower right corner of the preview image as seen there.
Click on Variable Window 17 and then... (next post, next screenshot)...

...and then, after clicking on a downloadable library part ... you'll see the 'Download and Embed' button as seen in the attached screenshot.
Click it, and the part is added to your embedded library (current project pln of course)... and is ready to use.
I just tried it and had no conflicts at all. As you see, quite a flexible object.
The key with the new BIM Components portal (linked directly to ArchiCAD) is to address your concern about any country 'missing out'... so that we can download at least some of the objects from other localizations as seen here.😉

Thank you both for your answers.
We started using the US lib again with a few objects and attributes copied over from the INT version. Works like a charm!

That's great! Glad it helped. And thanks again for calling my attention to the Variable Window 17 object.
