Wallhole slab does not cut wall hole.

I can not get the wallhole function to cut a non-rectangular hole. I've used this tool in previous versions and it works fine. When I create a slab with the wallhole ID and create a window, the wallhole slab shows up when the window is placed. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I just tried two simple slabs as WALLHOLES and it worked fine.

Did you try creating the window with ONLY the wallhole? Is the wall hole a SLAB? Did you use SEO's on the slab?

When you post the object for review, create a mod of the slabs you used to create it.

We can make it work for you....

I ID the wallhole element in the element settings box under "listing and labeling" and "ID". I select all the window elements, including the wall hole, go into 3D and view from the top, select all the window elements, then save as "save 3D model as."
For a custom window or door, you do NOT have to do a top view. Any old view will work. Only objects care what angle you are using in the 3D view.

As others have said, you must choose 'Editable' as in the attached screenshot. Works perfectly for me in 12.

I absolutely can not believe it! I did not realize that one could create a window or door in any other 3D view other than a view looking directly down on the door or window. I recreated my window, but this time instead of looking down from the top in 3D, I looked at it in a plan view. I saved it then placed it and low and behold, it works. Thank you to all who have help me resolve this. Why does the fix always have to be something so simple.

You have to have a Graphisoft pointy wizard hat to know that when you save a window or door it automatically rotates it into the right orientation.

Because you did not read the manual to the end ...

That's hilarious. I've had that same problem recently, and was coming up with all sorts of ways to avoid it causing problems. I knew that you could save windows from any angle, but always looked down on it just "to be sure" I guess. Oh well, patience is an archicad virtue isn't it. Live and learn.
