Window with sidelight sash width

2026-03-12 10_42_39.png

I have windows with sidelights. The opening sash must always be the same witdh (for example 600mm). Now I have to change them to 700mm. In the selection settings I can only change the sidelight with. But I have a large-scale development with many windows of varying widths. I cant calculate all the sidelights manually. The sidelight width varies and it doesnt matter at all.
Why I cant change the main sash width?

Operating system used: Windows 11 25H2

Hi @Kerstin_K

This is the workaround I found. You evaluate if it its worthy for you:

There is a library parameter for the Sidelight Width (gs_SLight_w) available for Window with sideligth.gsm object you can edit in the window settings.

You also have the total Width of the window opening and what you want to get fixed is the difference between those values so:

  • Create a new length property named Window Opening Fixedavailable only for Window classification. You can select all the windows and change that value to 700mm, for instance.
  • Create a new length property named New Sidelight Width as an expression: {Property:General Parameters/Width} - {Property:OPENINGS/Window Opening Fixed} available only for Window classification.

  • Create a new schedule with the criteria for window type and library part name is Window with Sidelight.
  • Add the following fields:
    • Element ID
    • Width
    • Sidelight Width (it is a library part parameter you can find in the Window with Sidelight.gsm object)
    • Window Opening Fixed (custom property)
    • New Sidelight Width (custom property)

Now you can manually copy the result values from New Sidelight Width and write them down to Sidelight Width and there you go.

Wow, it's a grazy hack! Thank you so much for the schemes. It's clear and doable.
I hope in the future Graphisoft improves windows and doors settings 🙂
