Windows on curved wall = Upside down marker text:

Attached I have a print screen showing you this issue.

We have a curved wall.
@ the horizontal diameter points of the wall we have a window, and we have one on either side of this window as well.
The window's marker on the upper portion of the wall shows as we want it to, as well as the marker on the center window.
The window, however, on the lower part of the wall has it's text rotated 180º. (the "W12" window we want changed.)

So who knows how to fix this?
Or why it happened?
Or- has this happened to anyone else.

Thanks.

Archicad always tries to keep text as horizontal as possible. While you might not like the appearance, in this case it's purely a cosmetic issue. I'd live with it. I know of no other way to fix it than to explode the marker and rotate it manually. Or perhaps write your own marker in GDL.

It looks like the marker object has "right-reading" code that automatically rotates the text to read from the bottom or to the right depending on the rotation of the window. Unfortunately, it seems that the programmer miscalculated the rotation angle threshold to flip the read direction.

Can you manually change the marker rotation in it's parameters? Or turn "off" the auto rotation?

There are a couple of rotation options, but none that I can see for the marker text

This is why I have "tweaked" all of our markers to fix this irritating auto-rotation problem. Do you have any GDL experience?

No, I don't really have any GDL experience.

How would I go about GETTING GDL experience?

David,

I would start here:

http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/sbe/cookbook/index.html

Download the cookbook, link at the bottom, or look at it on line. While GDL may seem complicated at first, it really isn't you just need a little experience. My advice is to take it a small step at a time, don't start off fixing you markers. Perhaps a simple shelf unit or the chair exercise in the cookbook, then build from there.
