hi there,
i've created a few 2d symbols and saved them as objects, and i used hotspots where i want the curser to find them, but there are no "handles" visible. is there a way to add them to custom objects?

Ah, I see, like the textbox and figure handles.
Yes it would be nice to be able to turn these on/off.
I think I would have them off most of the time, but it would occasionally be nice to turn them on.
Maybe you should make a wish in the wishes forum.
Actually there is at least one old wish there for it already ... https://community.graphisoft.com/t5/Wishes/View-object-handles/m-p/239807
Adding a fill to a custom object can also help to select it with the quick select magnet.

I think the handles (hotspots) are auto-created with a 2d point tool (there is a “point” tool inside toolbar palette) before saving your 2d to gsm. Place as many points as you want where you wish your hotspots to appear.

ah, it's only a simple 2D symbol so i didn't use GDL. way above my pay grade anyway. is there any point in delving into GDL to make simple symbol objects?

Most definitely.
My entire library is custom made scripting in GDL.
I also occasionally take a default Graphisoft object and bend it to suit my needs.
I am a little unclear what you mean by 'handles'.
The hotspots will create selectable/place-able nodes when you save them with your custom 2D symbols.
But what is a handle?
Barry.

Good day Barry,
they are the little corners you can turn on under on-screen view options to make it easier to locate the hotspots. this particular symbol is an odd shape so the corners are hard to locate easily. flinging the curser all over the area hoping to find one. i have placed hotspots at the corners when i created the object, but they don't show when the view option is turned on.
