curved window

I am looking to recreate the elevation as per the attacched image which comprises a bow (curved) window.
Is there a window that can follow the shape of a curved wall or would somethng like the curtain wall tool be required here???

Or create a curved wall and place individual window units in the wall. The window units in your photo appear to be straight, not curved.

You should add a Signature to your Profile (click the Profile button near the top of this page) with your ArchiCAD version and operating system (see mine for an example) for more accurate help in this forum.

Hi Folks,

Could anyone kindly tell me how to achieve a few things using a curved window? See attached pictures for reference.

1) When placing a curved window in a curved wall, how to I make the cill curved? I have checked the 'cill is curved in curved walls' checkbox under parameters, but annoyingly, this doesn't seem to work.

2) The cill does not show up in section when using a curved window in a curved wall. Any ideas how to sort this? I suspect that this will be sorted automatically when Point 1 is resolved.

3) When I adjust the size of my window opening, the window itself does not follow the curve of the wall. I cannot seem to set a reveal depth either. Any ideas?

Hi Paul,

You will get better results if you place the curved/bow window in the straight wall. As you have found, curved walls give unpredictable results.

Increase the lower 'oversize' dimension to hide the straight wall below the window and place a low curved tile clad wall separately underneath. You may need to put this on a layer with a different intersection number than the straight wall if the position of the reference line causes it to intersect weirdly.

Model the internal window board using a slab - don't use the one in the window object. You'll get a neater result in plan and section!

I was rather hoping for an accurate solution within the curved window settings instead of the usual work around, but oh well. It's always so annoying when the only option available is to fudge it!

The mighty ArchiCAD is so good 90% of the time that I must be prepared to let it off the hook every so often!
