different size sashes for W Sliding3 22 window

Anonymous

How do you make the window W Sliding3 22 middle fixed sash be 2x the width of the outside sliding panes? I have never seen a window in real life where the two sliding sashes have to slide into the same space. Is there another sliding window that does it?

I would have assumed that there would have been common parts which each localisation adds onto though that does not appear to be so in this case. Are the base macros the same? So each localisation just have different top level macros that pick out the right bits? Or does each localisation re-write those base macros?

I don't know for sure as I have never really looked into it.
But I believe that the USA doors and windows are completely (or greatly) different to the INT doors and windows.
That includes their macros.

That is why they can both be loaded at the same time without duplicates.
However they will have different options such as casings and the wrapping of reveal skins that may not suit alternate localisations.

I think the AUS doors and windows are much closer (if not the same) as the INT ones.
Again I don't really know as I don't use any of them - I have my own custom library which is completely different again.

There are many post here about why one localisation can't do what another one does.

How does one get a copy of the other libraries to see if there is something useful in them?

You can download and install other versions that your licence allows you to. With an AUS licence we can download the AUS, US, UK and INT versions. I am not sure if you can download the individual libraries themselves...

As far as I know you must download and install the different language versions.
Give the installation folder a new name so as not to affect your current working version.
Then you can copy out the library and uninstall the programs if you want.

Be prepared for problems such as duplicate objects if you load more than one GS library.
If you extract the LCF file to access individual objects, you will need to make sure you get all the correct CALLed macros as well.

The best way to get other objects is through BIM Components as this will include all necessary macros - but it seems that is not up to date any more.

I found this thread because I was having the same issue (wanting to find a slider window with narrower operable sashes) and it sounds like the AC19 version would work for me. However, even though I see it listed under the Migration Libaries folder in my library manager, I can't use it or place it. I tried copying it to my embedded library and still can place it as a window object. What am I missing here?

If you are looking for a version 19 window then you will need to get it from the version 19 library.
You will have to load the entire library or extract the LCF file.
If it is a window or door, remember there may be a lot of macros that you also need.
I am not sure if this will work nicely with a new library loaded as well (without migrating).

I am not100% sure how the GS migration libraries work, but the file in the migration libraries may not be a real objects, just a file that migrates one version to another (it swaps the GUID and set parameter values if needed).

Another place to look is in BIMComponents - simply search in the window settings dialogue and see what pops up in BIMComponents.

I guess my understanding of the migration libraries was a little off. I thought it gave us access to older libraries within the software. I did find on on BIMComponents that works pretty well, but will dig into my archive to see if I have older versions of the libraries I can import. Thanks again for the great input.

If any other USA users out there are reading this... I went through the trouble of downloading the AC19 install software, so that I could grab the library objects. The AC19 3-pane slider window does not allow to specify the width of the sliders, just like the AC23 version doesn't, so spare yourself the trouble.
The BIMComponent one comes with a full-blown model of a building. It serves my purpose for now, but has created duplicates in my library, between this new downloaded object and the migration library. Deleting the new library object does not help, so I'm just ignoring the duplicate warnings for now.

Would that be for the US or INT version? You would need to download the INT version. You can then extract the relevant window by placing it in the floor plan and archiving the file, embedding all placed objects. This should save the window and the required macros to the embedded library which can then be exported to the desired location.
