kb size of Preview Pictures

Erika Epstein
Enthusiast
Something I've been wondering about... How can I minimize the kb size of a preview picture?

Having just scripted some new objects and worked hard to keep their size(s) down to 2-3 kb, I noticed that when I save a preview picture it typically adds another 2 kb or more to the object's size!

I tried various methods from photorendering to wireframe and the size of the
object grows the same amount. I'm keeping the window size at 128x128 pixels although varying that does not change these results.

The larger the object the more kb gets added when adding the user-friendly preview picture.

Is there a way to keep the kb size of the preview picture to a minimum?
Thank you
Erika

Use as LESS colors as you can. Try reducing them in an image editing program, like Photoshop:
Image>Method>indexed colours (or color scale, or similar...)

But I think it is hard to go below the 2KB limit.

If you do use Photoshop, you can use the Save to Web option which REALLY shrinks the file size down.
